My list of home projects never seems to end. I enjoy staying busy, but sometimes I need extra motivation to tackle a task I know will consume a lot of time.
How does $200 sound?
Getting paid for work you were already planning to do is hard to beat. Duluth Trading Company is running a “Kick in the Pants” contest to motivate people to finish lingering projects.

Enter on the Duluth Trading Company Facebook page and they’ll select 10 winners. Each winner will receive a $200 Visa gift card and a $200 Duluth Trading gift card to help complete their project.
The contest is currently open. Five winners will be chosen on April 23 and five more on May 1, so don’t delay if you want to participate.
I’ve been planning to build a new privacy fence in our backyard for months. Right now we’ve hung bamboo screens on poles to block the view from our neighbors’ windows, which look directly into our yard. Our existing wall is only five feet tall, so without the screens the neighbors can see everything we do outdoors. We have nothing to hide, but now that we have a small child we value our privacy more than ever.

Recently our neighbors removed a large hedge that had been growing into the bamboo, which caused the screens to sag. Without that hedge we’re left with very little privacy. That alone is motivation to find a permanent solution—but an extra $200 in cash plus a gift card for supplies would make it that much easier and more satisfying.
Duluth Trading Company sent me a pair of their new DuluthFlex Ultimate Fire Hose Cargo Pants to try. I’ve long been a fan of their Fire Hose Work Pants, but I wanted something lighter and more flexible for working in sunny Southern California.
So far I’m very impressed. These DuluthFlex pants are about one third lighter than the original Fire Hose pants, yet remain extremely durable and provide significantly more stretch and mobility.
I’ll post an update next month about the privacy fence project. In the meantime, consider entering the contest to win some money and gear that could help you move your spring projects forward.
