This was our first visit to the International Contemporary Furniture Fair (ICFF) and it proved to be a captivating experience. Held at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center on Manhattan’s West Side, the show fills a vast exhibition space with innovative furniture, lighting, and home accessories from designers around the world. Strolling the aisles felt like discovering a new, striking design at every turn.
One standout was the CSYS LED desk lamp by Jake Dyson, a beautifully engineered lighting solution that blends form and function. While that lamp was a highlight, the fair showcased a broad range of imaginative products—from sculptural seating to intelligently designed fixtures—that demonstrate the current breadth and creativity in contemporary design.

A memorable collaboration on display was Kohler + Jonathan Adler. Their joint presentation was striking not only for the products but for the booth design itself: a repurposed steel storage container that created a bold, urban backdrop for their playful yet refined fixtures and finishes.

The mix of materials, colors, and whimsical details in the Kohler + Jonathan Adler pieces drew a lot of attention. Their aesthetic brought a lively contrast to the more minimal and industrial displays nearby, offering visitors a glimpse of how decorative personality can be integrated into functional products.

Outdoor foosball tables from RS Barcelona were another eye-catching installation. Built for alfresco entertaining, these tables combine durable materials with elegant proportions so they work equally well in a backyard, a rooftop terrace, or a hospitality setting.

Slade Architecture presented an inventive pet house that reads like a small architectural model—a refined solution that treats a dog or cat home as an opportunity for thoughtful design rather than an afterthought. Its clean lines and careful detailing made it both functional and visually engaging.
The overall atmosphere at ICFF combined professional energy with genuine enthusiasm: designers, manufacturers, retailers, and design-minded visitors all converged to see the latest products and trends. The fair highlights how contemporary design ranges from highly engineered technical pieces to playful, decorative objects, and from durable outdoor furnishings to exquisitely detailed indoor items.
Walking the show, we appreciated the quality of craftsmanship on display and the inventive approaches to materials and finishes. Lighting, seating, and accessories reflected a clear focus on sustainability, longevity, and user experience—trends that are shaping the industry today. Whether it was a sleek, task-focused lamp or a whimsically finished bathroom fixture, the work on view emphasized both practicality and personality.
If you enjoy modern design, trade shows like ICFF are invaluable for seeing new concepts firsthand and gauging how designers are responding to changing lifestyles and environmental priorities. The fair left us inspired by the diversity of ideas and the thoughtful execution behind many of the exhibits.
