The Corvette C8 arrived two years ago and quickly established itself as a standout: the first true American-made supercar. Chevrolet has now pushed the performance envelope further with the 2023 Corvette Z06, a focused, track-ready variant that amplifies everything enthusiasts love about the mid-engine platform.

At the heart of the Z06 is a flat-plane crank V8 that produces 670 horsepower, making it the most powerful naturally aspirated V8 in current production. That power, paired with Corvette engineering, sends the Z06 from 0 to 60 mph in approximately 2.6 seconds, delivering an intense and immediate driving experience.
Having spent time with the 2021 and 2022 Corvette models, I can say the Z06 represents a major step up in performance. It isn’t merely faster; it’s sharpened in every dimension—engine response, chassis dynamics, and driver engagement.

One standout feature from the C8 lineup is Z-mode—a steering-wheel-mounted control that instantly transforms the car. With a button press it opens exhaust baffles, quickens steering, and firms the suspension for an aggressive performance setup. In the Z06, Z-mode becomes even more intense, especially given the engine’s 8,600 rpm redline—about 2,000 rpm higher than the standard Stingray—resulting in a sound and character that truly scream performance.

Beyond the engine, the Z06’s exterior and hardware reflect its track-focused intentions. Wider wheels and tires provide greater grip and improved contact patch. Larger brakes increase fade resistance and stopping power. An available carbon-fiber wing and a more aggressive front fascia enhance downforce and aerodynamic balance. These elements not only improve lap times but also give the Z06 a more muscular, purposeful presence on the street.
