Fresh Composite Deck Color Ideas for Modern Outdoor Spaces

Composite decking continues to improve year after year, delivering enhanced performance, durability, and aesthetics. At this year’s International Builders’ Show, MoistureShield unveiled two new composite decking colors featuring their CoolDeck technology, designed to significantly reduce surface heat for a more comfortable outdoor living space.

CoolDeck reduces heat absorption by up to 35% compared with traditional capped composite boards, helping the deck surface stay cooler under direct sun and making it more pleasant to walk on barefoot. The two new shades—Mochaccino and Cathedral Stone—have been added to the MoistureShield Vision collection with the CoolDeck option, expanding the line’s palette of designer-friendly hues.

“CoolDeck technology minimizes the heat absorption that is a key pain point of composite decking,” says Joey Peters, Senior Brand Manager. “The addition of CoolDeck colors to the Vision line represents a marriage of two technologies that together provide a visually appealing indoor-flooring look and a more comfortable composite decking experience.”

The Vision collection is produced using an advanced manufacturing process that creates a modern, variegated appearance and a trend-forward palette. Its contemporary designs closely mimic the look of interior hardwoods for a seamless transition from indoor floors to outdoor decks.

Alongside the new Mochaccino and Cathedral Stone CoolDeck options, Vision is available in Smokey Gray, Spanish Leather, and Sandstone. Each board features MoistureShield’s Solid Core Difference for enhanced strength and superior moisture resistance. Paired with the DiamondDefense cap, the Solid Core Difference helps deliver exceptional weather resistance and long-lasting durability.

Deck boards in the Vision collection are offered in 12-, 16- and 20-foot lengths, while matching fascia boards come in 12-foot lengths. The decking is available in both square-shouldered boards and grooved profiles for use with hidden fasteners. Vision decking is backed by a lifetime structural warranty and a limited lifetime fade-and-stain warranty, providing extended protection and peace of mind.

If you’re planning a deck project this year—especially in a wet or variable climate—MoistureShield’s Vision line with CoolDeck technology is worth considering for its cooler surface temperatures, realistic hardwood appearance, and all-weather durability.
