Airstream Vacations at AutoCamp Yosemite: Glamping by Yosemite National Park

Yosemite National Park ranks among the planet’s most breathtaking natural places, drawing roughly four million visitors each year. Lodging inside the park is often scarce and competitive, so the recent opening of Autocamp Yosemite is welcome news for travelers who want the experience of trailer life without towing, setup, or ownership hassles.

Recently I attended a towing demonstration hosted by Nissan and Airstream that showcased the capabilities of their SUVs and trucks. The event included an invitation to stay at the newly opened Autocamp Yosemite, and the visit left a strong impression.

I grew up taking road trips in an RV and trailer, and I hope to share that tradition with my family one day. Because trailers are expensive and require storage, staying in a fully equipped Airstream at Autocamp Yosemite felt like the ideal compromise—authentic trailer living with none of the logistical headaches.

Airstream Experience

Autocamp’s Airstreams are not simple restorations; they’re comprehensively reimagined as modern, comfortable living spaces. Interiors have been opened up and redesigned to feel like small, well-crafted homes—from roomy bathrooms to inviting living areas and thoughtfully appointed bedrooms. While one could call it glamping, staying at Autocamp feels more like a luxurious, carefully curated campground experience with top-tier amenities.

In addition to the private Airstreams, the property includes a modern clubhouse designed for gatherings and relaxation, expected to house amenities such as a pool and communal spaces. During my visit the clubhouse was still under construction, but its development suggested it will become a valuable centerpiece for the camp when complete.

Autocamp Activities

Autocamp Yosemite offers a variety of accommodation types beyond the classic Airstream. Accessible tiny homes sit close to the entrance and provide barrier-free options. Canvas tents adjacent to some trailers add extra sleeping or lounging space for families or groups who want more separation. Though many sites follow a similar layout, some are tucked away in more private corners of the property and convey a genuine sense of being alone in the woods.

There are also two cabin-style units that offer more square footage than an Airstream while retaining a cozy feel; each cabin has a deck, a swing, and an outdoor fireplace area that make evenings comfortable and social.

Common amenities include a shared fire pit, a small lake area, and bicycles available for rent—plenty of options to explore the grounds and socialize with other guests. Most visitors, however, will use Autocamp Yosemite as a base for day trips into Yosemite National Park, which lies about 20 minutes away. Nearby Mariposa supplies restaurants and grocery options for provisioning before or after your stay.

I’m already planning a return stay and hope to visit other Autocamp properties, such as the locations at Joshua Tree and Zion. If you’re looking for a getaway that delivers the spirit of camping without the effort of traditional setup, Autocamp Yosemite is a compelling option to consider for your next trip.
