Mohawk provided details about its latest pet-friendly carpet and hard-surface flooring products.
SmartStrand is Mohawk’s eco-conscious carpet line and combines impressive stain resistance with long-lasting durability. Partially made from renewable corn-derived sugar, SmartStrand offers a practical, greener option without sacrificing performance.
For homeowners who want extra protection, Mohawk recommends SmartStrand Ultra. This version resists common pet-related stains—mud, urine and other accidents—and can be cleaned easily with a damp sponge and mild detergent, often leaving no trace of the spill.
Mohawk also introduced SmartStrand Silk, which retains the same stain-resistant properties while delivering an exceptionally plush, soft texture.

For hard-surface flooring, many homeowners choose laminate for its combination of cost-effectiveness and durability. Mohawk’s laminate lines feature ScratchGuard Advanced Finish Protection, which mixes aluminum crystals into the wear layer to boost resistance to abrasion. That technology helps protect floors from pet nails and everyday scratches while keeping surfaces looking newer for longer.
Mohawk’s laminate collections also offer deep-grain embossing and hand-scraped textures that closely replicate the look of real wood. Acoustically, these laminates mimic wood as well: footsteps from pet paws or people don’t sound hollow or artificial, making them a convincing wood alternative for pet-friendly homes.
