WORX Debuts 56V Cordless Lawn Mowers for Powerful Battery Cutting

In spring 2015, WORX introduced two 56V MaxLithium 19-inch 3-in-1 lawnmowers featuring Intellicut technology. Each model ships with two 56V battery packs, signaling that battery-powered mowers have become a practical, high-performance alternative to gas models for homeowners who want quieter, lower-maintenance, and more environmentally friendly options.

Both WORX 56V mowers use durable 19-inch steel decks and offer premium mulching performance. They deliver near gas-like power and cover substantial yard areas on a single charge—up to 8,500 sq. ft. and 9,400 sq. ft. for the WG771—putting their runtime into real-world perspective (a full-size tennis court is about 7,200 sq. ft.).

“It’s a great combination of power, durability, and runtime for the average suburban home site,” said Brandon Martin, WORX product manager. “By increasing the mower’s battery capacity and adding superior maneuverability with zero-turn-radius functionality, we’ve closed the gap between cordless and gas-powered mowers.”

These 3-in-1 push mowers let homeowners choose mulch, bag, or side-discharge modes. The new NutriCut system uses dual-edge mulching blades to finely chop clippings and return nutrients to the lawn for natural fertilization. WORX Power Share models also include Intellicut, a torque-on-demand system that automatically adjusts motor output to match cutting conditions. That means less bogging down in heavy or tall grass—simply select the POWER dial for tougher conditions or ECO mode for everyday mowing to conserve energy.

The rugged 19-inch steel decks are paired with large rear wheels (10 inches) and front wheels (7 inches) to improve traction and maneuverability. The WG771 features 360° rotating front caster wheels, a feature commonly found on commercial mowers that permits quick turns and exceptional agility. The front caster also includes a one-touch locking mechanism to fix wheels in a straight position for steady mowing on slopes and inclines.

Both models include a deck washout port to simplify cleaning: insert a hose, run the mower briefly, and water pressure removes caked-on clippings from the underside for easy maintenance.

Ergonomics and convenience were priorities in the design. The mowers feature a foam-padded comfort handle that folds down completely for compact storage, transport, or maintenance access. Starting is simple—no pull cord: press the starter button and squeeze the bail. With no gas or oil to manage, users avoid routine engine maintenance and trips to the gas station.

The 56V MaxLithium battery sits inside the mower housing and is removable for charging or storage; a full charge takes about 90 minutes. A battery-level indicator on the upper handle (WG771) and on the battery itself makes it easy to monitor remaining charge. Two 56V batteries are included with each mower.

The mower deck is engineered to create a wind-tunnel effect beneath the deck, improving lift and mulching performance for a professional-looking cut. Deck height is adjustable across seven positions, from 1-1/4 inches to 4 inches, to suit a variety of grass types and conditions.

Each 56V mower package includes two 56V MaxLithium battery packs, a 90-minute charger, a mulch plug, and a 1.4-bushel grass collection bag. WORX backs the mowers with a three-year warranty.
