Polaris has raised the bar in utility ATV design with the new Polaris SPORTSMAN WV850 H.O., a rugged workhorse that introduces TerrainArmor non-pneumatic tires as a key factory feature. These solid-style tires eliminate flat tires while delivering improvements in handling and durability tailored to heavy-duty use.
The SPORTSMAN WV850 H.O. pairs brute capability with practical innovations. Its TerrainArmor non-pneumatic tires are built from a military-proven design that performs reliably in extreme conditions. Because they don’t require air pressure, they remove the downtime and maintenance associated with punctures and blowouts.

Beyond eliminating flats, TerrainArmor delivers several operational benefits. The non-pneumatic construction lowers the center of gravity and reduces lateral push during cornering, contributing to more predictable handling. Polaris also developed a specific tread pattern and rubber compound for the WV850 to balance traction, wear resistance, and ride comfort for demanding work and trail conditions.

Underneath the body, the WV850 H.O. includes an upgraded shock package to handle heavy loads and rough terrain, plus heavy-duty steel racks rated to carry 600 lbs. Electronic power steering reduces rider fatigue on long workdays or extended off-road trips, making maneuvering easier at low speeds and more controlled at higher speeds.
The machine is powered by a robust 77 hp engine that delivers strong torque and towing capability. That engine is paired with a fully automatic, single-speed, military-grade transmission designed for simplicity and reliability, featuring a single forward and reverse gear to streamline operation in field conditions.
As a practical work vehicle, the SPORTSMAN WV850 H.O. includes a standard 2-inch receiver hitch with a towing capacity of 1,500 lbs (680 kg) and a premium 3,000 lb WARN winch to help extract loads or recover the ATV in difficult situations.

Polaris’ advanced AWD system enhances capability across varied terrain by engaging all four wheels when extra traction is required and reverting to two-wheel drive when it is not, improving efficiency and fuel economy. Safety and control on descents are assisted by Electronic Braking System (EBS) and Active Descent Control, which provide smooth, even deceleration at speeds under 15 mph.
The SPORTSMAN WV850 H.O. is engineered for professionals and outdoor enthusiasts who need a dependable, low-maintenance machine that combines towing strength, trail-ready handling, and the confidence of puncture-proof TerrainArmor tires. Its blend of utility-focused features and proven components makes it a compelling choice for demanding work sites, ranches, and off-road missions.
