Dewalt FlexVolt 60V Battery Launches a New Era in Cordless Tools

DeWalt’s FlexVolt battery system has arrived, and it lives up to the anticipation. Designed to adapt voltage to the needs of the tool it’s powering, the FlexVolt platform bridges the gap between compact 20V tools and higher-demand, jobsite-grade cordless equipment.

At its core, the FlexVolt battery can operate as a 60V pack when paired with DeWalt’s new high-voltage tools, such as the compact table saw and the 12″ miter saw. Those high-voltage tools benefit from the increased power and runtime the FlexVolt battery delivers. Equally important for tradespeople who already own DeWalt 20V Max tools: the FlexVolt batteries are backward compatible, allowing them to be used with the existing 20V Max lineup. This compatibility preserves investment in current tools while adding access to a new class of cordless performance.

FlexVolt is offered in higher-capacity cells to meet diverse jobsite needs. The batteries come in 6.0 Ah and 9.0 Ah configurations, and DeWalt’s system allows packs to be combined in series or parallel to supply the equivalent of 120V when necessary. That flexibility opens up cordless solutions for tasks that traditionally required corded power.

Alongside the batteries, DeWalt introduced a family of new cordless tools tuned to take full advantage of the FlexVolt platform, including reciprocating saws, dedicated chargers, hole saw systems, and multi-voltage chargers. These tools and accessories expand the ecosystem so users can select the best combination of power, runtime, and portability for their work.

The FlexVolt system was scheduled to be released later in 2016, bringing a meaningful step forward in cordless tool capability by combining compatibility with existing 20V Max tools and the raw performance needed for larger, more demanding applications.
