A single hack or phishing attack can expose private details of our lives. With so much personal information shared on social media and stored by companies, it’s increasingly easy for criminals to assemble enough data to steal identities. Taking steps to monitor your digital footprint is essential, and LifeLock provides a practical place to start.
We regularly entrust banks, retailers, and online services with sensitive data, yet breaches remain common. When a breach happens, the typical response—resetting passwords and receiving a breach notification—often feels routine. That familiarity can breed complacency: after changing a password we move on, unaware of lingering or ongoing threats to our accounts.
This is a persistent, modern challenge. As transactions and records move online, attackers will continue attempting to access institutions that hold our data. Your best protection is to be informed about your online identity: regularly review credit reports, public records, bank and card activity, and identification records. Manually tracking all this is time-consuming and exhausting, but services like LifeLock Ultimate Plus help you respond to identity threats and keep tabs on your credit.
We tested the LifeLock Ultimate Plus plan through a complimentary membership; LifeLock also offers two other plans to suit different needs. After entering basic information, LifeLock quickly displayed credit scores from the three major bureaus—Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion. In our case there were no major alerts, though we did discover an open department store card we thought we had closed.
LifeLock continuously monitors financial accounts and notifies you if new accounts are opened in your name or if existing accounts show suspicious changes. Its internet monitoring and public records checks can reveal unexpected references to your identity that you might not otherwise see.
Adding bank and credit card details to your LifeLock profile improves protection by enabling detection of potentially fraudulent financial activity. While credit card companies already offer fraud alerts and protections, layering LifeLock’s monitoring adds an extra safeguard and broader visibility into risks affecting your identity.
LifeLock is not a one-time setup you can forget. Regularly reviewing your LifeLock dashboard and responding to alerts is important—identity protection still requires personal attention. LifeLock makes monitoring easier and helps you react faster to threats, but it does not replace ongoing vigilance over your digital life.
