Shaving has always been a chore I postpone, much to the disappointment of my wife and son who prefer a clean-shaven look. Recently I had the chance to try the new Gillette Fusion ProShield, supplied in a Sam’s Club pack that lasts up to nine months. My family was thrilled—no more excuses about running out of blades or not getting a close shave.
In the past I experimented with electric razors, but they never delivered the close shave I wanted. I don’t have heavy facial hair, but what I have is dark and thick—if it isn’t shaved close I’m left with a 5 o’clock shadow. I don’t have extremely sensitive skin, but I prefer a razor that glides smoothly and tells me when it’s time for new blades. I used the original Gillette Fusion with good results, but the Fusion ProShield made a noticeable difference.
The grip on the Fusion ProShield improves on the solid feel of the standard Fusion. It has a bit more heft, which offers precise control and stability in the hand. Rubberized side grips make it comfortable to hold and reduce the chance of slipping.
The blade cartridge features lubrication strips both before and after the blades, producing an exceptionally smooth shave. My face felt great after shaving, and despite the sharp blades I didn’t nick myself—even when I was in a hurry. Gillette’s FlexBall technology likely helps: the cartridge not only pivots up and down to follow facial contours but also tilts side to side, improving blade contact and coverage. It could sound like marketing, but in practice the enhanced movement really does improve the shave.
The Sam’s Club pack makes blade replacement simple and hygienic—cartridges load quickly without handling the blades directly: just click them into place. The package I received includes the razor handle and nine cartridges for $42.96, which is a convenient value for frequent shavers or families.
I’m enjoying the Fusion ProShield and want to share that experience. I’m offering a Sam’s Club gift card so someone can buy their own set of razors—whether it’s for yourself or as a gift for a husband, boyfriend, son, or father. To enter, leave a comment telling me who the gift card would be for.
