Twenty years ago we bought a Tempur-Pedic mattress. At the time it was one of the few foam mattresses available, and it transformed how we slept. That original mattress now lives in our guest room, and it remains a favorite with everyone who uses it.
Over the past year we tested the TEMPUR-LUXEbreeze, Tempur-Pedic’s next-generation mattress designed to deliver a cooler night’s sleep—up to 8 degrees cooler, the company says.
“Cool sleeping” is one of the biggest trends in bedding today, and Tempur’s thermal, chemical, and textile scientists have been working on this challenge since 2010. The effort behind the Breeze is extensive: R&D teams from the U.S., China, and Europe collaborated across ten cross-functional groups, and the brand’s Thermal Lab is among the industry’s most advanced testing facilities.
The Result
The TEMPUR-LUXEbreeze combines carefully engineered layers to address both your personal heat index—heat plus humidity—and pressure relief, with each component working together for an eight-hour “symphony” of comfort.
Because of this layered approach, the Breeze is the only mattress that consistently helps you feel as much as 8 degrees cooler when you first get into bed, as you fall asleep, and—most importantly—throughout the night.
In our experience, we have indeed slept noticeably cooler. The mattress excels in warm weather, delivering clear relief during summer nights, but it also offers a subtle, comforting “breeze” sensation in colder months that many sleepers will appreciate.
Our only minor gripe is the mattress cover’s slick surface—some types of sheets didn’t stay as taut as we prefer. We plan to try Tempur-Pedic’s own fitted sheets to see if they hold better and will report back on the fit.
