Last summer I toured Greenworks’ headquarters in Mooresville, NC, where the company showcased the all-new Greenworks Pro 60V battery-powered outdoor tools. After using pre-production units six months ago, I recently tested production models and found they’ve been further refined — offering more power, longer runtime, and updated ergonomics across the lineup. The biggest leap, though, is the Greenworks Pro 60V Max cordless self-propelled lawn mower (MO60L514).
Below are the key features that make this mower stand out among cordless models.
User-Friendly Controls
One of the most noticeable upgrades from the first generation is the redesigned hand controls. The old green-and-black metal pull bars have been replaced by ergonomic gray-and-green plastic levers that operate independently and require minimal effort. Starting the mower is straightforward: pull one gray lever and press the centrally located green start button. The button is conveniently placed but high enough to help prevent accidental activation by children.
Engaging the self-propel feature is similarly simple: after starting, squeeze one of the green levers to propel the mower forward. A thumb-operated speed control sits within easy reach and uses intuitive turtle and rabbit icons to indicate slower and faster speeds. Overall, the new controls are more attractive and much easier to use than before.
Dual Batteries
This mower can deliver up to 90 minutes of continuous runtime without swapping batteries. It achieves this with a dual-port setup and automatic battery switchover: when one battery is depleted, the system seamlessly switches to the second battery so you don’t have to stop mowing to change packs or wait for a recharge. An onboard fuel gauge displays remaining charge in each battery.
Note: to take full advantage of the dual-battery capability you’ll need to purchase a second 5.0 Ah battery, which is not included with the mower.
SmartCut Technology
To optimize runtime and performance, Greenworks applies SmartCut technology to this mower’s motor management. SmartCut modulates power in response to cutting conditions: light, sparse lawns draw less energy, while dense or tall grass and weeds prompt the system to increase output. This adaptive approach helps balance efficiency and cutting performance. For extra-heavy work, the mower also offers a turbo boost mode to tackle tougher terrain and thicker vegetation.
EZ Fold Handle
The new EZ Fold handle streamlines setup and storage. Earlier models folded but were awkward; this version uses two simple levers on either side of the handle. Pull those levers to lower the handle for storage or to adjust hand height for comfortable mowing. The mechanism makes it easy to fold the handle flat, and the mower is light and compact enough to stand on end for storage in a utility closet or garage.
Competition in the cordless mower market is intense, but with its combination of user-focused controls, dual-battery runtime, SmartCut efficiency, and practical folding handle, the Greenworks Pro 60V Max mower is positioned to be one of the brand’s top sellers.
