Husqvarna’s Latest Battery-Powered Outdoor Tools: Review & Guide

At the Husqvarna Silent City event in Antwerp, Belgium, I had the chance to test most of the new commercial and residential lithium‑ion battery lawn and garden tools directly in a public city park.

Full disclosure: before this event I was largely inexperienced with lawn care and power tools. My own lawn is smaller than many living rooms, and with a brother who works in lawn care I’ve often handed tasks to someone more experienced. One of my goals in Antwerp was to try every piece of equipment the team would let me use. I dove in completely — so much so that a few Husqvarna staffers joked they thought I was part of the crew, disguised as press.

In Antwerp I operated a string trimmer, a leaf blower, two types of chainsaws, and a hedge trimmer — all powered by Husqvarna’s latest lithium‑ion battery systems. The company now offers a full lineup of battery handhelds for landscaping professionals and municipalities. Inspired by technology used in model aircraft, Husqvarna developed more robust brushless motors that balance weight, durability and power. These brushless motors can be significantly more efficient than older brushed designs, reducing energy loss and extending runtime.

“Just like an electric Tesla car can achieve tremendous acceleration and power, our brushless electric motors deliver full power instantly from startup, with torque that rivals many modern gas engines,” said Anna Annvik, Global Product Manager at Husqvarna.

  • Benefits of efficient battery-powered landscaping tools include:
  • Improved working environment — no direct exhaust emissions
  • Reduced noise — suitable for noise‑sensitive locations
  • Longer continuous work periods — low vibration levels
  • Lower maintenance — simpler electric drive systems
  • All‑weather reliability — sealed electronics for durability
  • High efficiency and performance — robust brushless motors
  • Lower running costs and cleaner operation — no fuel required
  • Strong performance — increases productivity

I experienced these advantages firsthand, both during Husqvarna’s skilled demonstrations and while handling the equipment myself. I even took a slab of Belgian birch home that I cut at the event as proof that these tools are easy to use with precise results. If a novice like me can operate them effectively, experienced fleet operators and backyard enthusiasts should adapt quickly to battery solutions and enjoy the benefits of Husqvarna’s engineering and reliability.
