HGTV Urban Oasis: Tour a Stunning Ann Arbor Home

Starting today, you can enter for a chance to win this beautifully restored Craftsman home located in the picturesque college town of Ann Arbor, Michigan.

Recently we toured the latest HGTV Urban Oasis in Ann Arbor. It was our first time visiting an HGTV giveaway home and our first time in Ann Arbor, and we left impressed by the thoughtful design and quality of the renovation.

HGTV brought together an accomplished team of designers, architects and builders to reimagine this bungalow, and many of them were on site to explain their vision and the finished result.

A bit of background: the fully renovated 1920s bungalow sits in the distinctive Water Hill neighborhood, close to the University of Michigan campus and only a short walk from the Big House. Its location makes it perfect for anyone who enjoys University life, local dining, shops and cultural events.

The home’s interior and exterior were completely reworked, combining sustainable features and practical, stylish details that suit modern urban living.

“HGTV recognized Ann Arbor as a small, friendly town with big-city sophistication and selected the location based on its proximity to the city’s most popular restaurants, shops and art galleries, close to schools, community parks and year-round activities,” said Ron Feinbaum, General Manager of HGTV Home Promotions.

Interior designer Brian Patrick Flynn decorated the approximately 1,500-square-foot, two-level home, which includes two bedrooms and two-and-a-half baths and an open-concept living area. HGTV Project Manager Scott Branscom directed the renovation work, including the addition of the new second-floor master suite.

The architecture was led by Dawn Zuber of Studio Z Architecture and the renovation was carried out by Maven Development. The result is a cozy, comfortable Craftsman-style home updated for contemporary family life. One standout is the expansive entry, which gives the compact house a more open, welcoming feel.

Storage and bathroom space were prioritized in the redesign: the upstairs master now includes a generous walk-in closet and a spacious, well-appointed bathroom.

The palette takes a fresh approach to traditional Craftsman colors, combining handmade details with modern and mid-century accents. Light-textured floors set off a scheme of gray-greens, warm pine tones and serene, spa-like blues that echo the landscaping outside.

Lush green hues inside connect the interior to the garden, which anchors a large screened porch adjacent to a fully rebuilt two-car garage. The Clopay Canyon Ridge garage door complements matching entry and rear doors, creating a smooth visual transition between indoor and outdoor spaces.

That continuity is a recurring theme in the project. A Clopay Avante interior garage door opens to the screened porch, allowing light to flow through the house while the Canyon Ridge door’s 20.4 R-value helps keep the home comfortable in winter.

The home is equipped with modern, high-end appliances and fixtures. Highlights include a Samsung refrigerator with an internal camera for convenient grocery planning and premium Kohler fixtures throughout the baths and kitchen.

Even more remarkable: this renovated and fully furnished home can be yours by entering HGTV’s sweepstakes. During the entry period, eligible participants may enter online twice daily at HGTV.com/UrbanOasis for a chance to win.

The HGTV Urban Oasis 2016 grand prize includes the remodeled, furnished home plus $50,000 in cash provided by national mortgage lender Quicken Loans®. Fans can follow updates and announcements on HGTV’s social channels using the event hashtag.
