Tomorrow marks the final race of the regular NASCAR season at Richmond, after which the Chase for the Cup begins. To have a bit of fun, we reviewed how several major home-improvement sponsors performed through their NASCAR teams this year.
Jimmie Johnson, sponsored by Lowe’s, remains a top contender for the Cup and is chasing what could be a fifth consecutive championship. Heading into Richmond Johnson sits seventh in the standings and has already clinched the informal title among home-improvement-backed drivers. Lowe’s sponsorship has paid off: Johnson reached the top step of the podium five times this season, delivering consistent high-level results for the brand.

Had DeWALT continued its sponsorship of Matt Kenseth, they would also have a driver inside the top ten. Kenseth is currently ninth in the standings and looks likely to compete for the Cup. DeWALT ended its long partnership with Kenseth last year and has not yet returned to NASCAR sponsorship.
Joey Logano, carrying Home Depot colors, sits 21st overall. Still early in his career at just 20 years old and in his third season, Logano posted nine top-ten finishes this year. His strong performances suggest he will be a competitive presence in the sport for many seasons to come. Fans can follow the team’s updates on Twitter at @HomeDepotRacing.
Paul Menard, representing Menards and Pittsburgh Paints, occupies 23rd place in the standings—a solid result and the team’s best finish in four years.
