More people than ever are road-tripping and embracing the #vanlife, but custom vehicle builds often cost thousands. A custom-fit Luno Air Mattress can convert your current car or SUV into a comfortable sleeper for cross-country trips for under $225, making vehicle-based travel far more accessible.

Tents can be cumbersome and rooftop tents remain out of reach for many. Sleeping in your own vehicle has long been a practical option, if not always comfortable—Luno changes that by offering a tailored sleep solution that fits your vehicle’s interior.

Sourcing a futon, air mattress, or sleeping pad to match your vehicle’s exact dimensions can be expensive and time-consuming. Luno produces custom air mattresses for over 1,800 vehicles, including popular models like the Subaru Crosstrek, Forester, and Outback, as well as the Toyota RAV4 and Jeep Wrangler. This tailored approach makes the Luno mattress an essential accessory for car camping and overlanding trips.

Each mattress is designed to maximize available space inside your vehicle. Where dimensions allow, a Luno mattress can sleep two adults comfortably—suiting sleepers up to 6 feet 2 inches tall—so couples can enjoy a restful night without sacrificing comfort or space.

Car Camping with Luno Air Mattress

We recently tested the Luno Air Mattress 2.0 on a weekend trip to the Oregon coast. The mattress was straightforward to set up and fit our Subaru Forester precisely. Compared to our usual sleeping pad, the Luno delivered noticeably better nights—making it practical for short naps with a toddler, overnight family trips, and longer car-camping excursions.

Our kids and dog took to the mattress immediately, and the material proved resilient against playful paws and the inevitable bouncing that comes with kids. Durability matters on the road, and the Luno held up well under real-world use.

When deflated, the mattress packs into a compact storage pouch—an important feature when space is limited. This makes it easy to store under seats or in a trunk without losing valuable cargo room.

If you’re a car camper or overlander, the Luno Air Mattress is worth considering before your next trip. It’s a simple upgrade that improves sleep quality, maximizes interior sleeping space, and keeps your setup compact and organized.
