Consumer-facing apps often get a lot of attention, but how much do they truly improve the buying experience? At this year’s Builders Show we previewed MyDoor from Clopay, a tablet-optimized web application that helps homeowners design and budget for a new garage door during an on-site consultation.
MyDoor guides customers through a short set of questions, then filters thousands of Clopay door configurations to produce the top three product recommendations that match the homeowner’s needs. The dealer uploads a photo of the customer’s home to the tablet so the homeowner can preview how each door will look on the actual house, compare prices, adjust options, and select the best fit. Once the customer decides, the dealer can save the quote, capture a signature, and place the order directly from the tablet.
“MyDoor changes the dynamic of the sales call,” said Pat Lohse, vice president of marketing. “Clopay’s guided-selling system encourages dealers to educate homeowners, understand their priorities, and present multiple options. Dealers using the tool report improvements in close rates, efficiency, and profitability.”
Beyond design and visualization, the Clopay platform gives dealers tools to schedule site visits, manage and assign leads, track follow-ups, generate instant quotes from price lists, submit field orders, and monitor business performance.

All of this contributes to a more informed and confident purchase for the homeowner. A garage door can be a significant investment, and tools that clarify options, pricing, and appearance make the decision easier. For more information about the product and its capabilities, visit Clopay’s website.
