Ojai, CA is an ideal weekend escape from Los Angeles. It can get busy on weekends, but staying in a luxury Airstream trailer makes the short trip more than worth it.
Our family was invited by Airstream to enjoy a stay in their newest Airstream Classic 30-foot travel trailer at Caravan Outpost, Ojai’s premier glamping destination.
We love overlanding and car camping, so upgrading to an Airstream—complete with a real mattress and a proper toilet—felt like a delightful treat.
Ojai Glamping at Caravan Outpost
We are relatively new to glamping. While we enjoy pitching our own tent or sleeping in the Land Cruiser, this was a wonderful introduction to glamping as a family. Our stay at Caravan Outpost was relaxing, comfortable, and memorable—we’re already looking forward to returning.

Prime location
Caravan Outpost sits just a few blocks from Ojai’s main street. You can easily walk or bike to restaurants and shops—recommended, since parking downtown can be limited.
Bike-friendly setting
The property borders a scenic bike path that runs through Ojai, making it easy to pedal to the park, local shops, and sights. Caravan Outpost provides bright yellow bikes you can rent if you don’t bring your own.
Unique Airstream accommodations
Caravan Outpost offers nine distinct Airstreams and a tiny house, each arranged around a welcoming communal area with games, shared tables, and comfortable seating. At the same time, each trailer has its own shaded, private seating nook—perfect for a quiet morning coffee or an afternoon read.
Airstream style and comfort
Having enjoyed a solo Airstream stay before, our family was excited to experience the Classic model together. The layout worked well for us: my wife and I slept in the queen bed at the rear, our older son used the converted dinette bed, and our younger son slept on the front couch.
We slept soundly and appreciated the space inside the trailer. The kitchen has a sizable fridge and an oven, which we used to prepare a cozy family dinner one evening. Small conveniences like these make the stay feel luxurious while still keeping things simple.
After our first glamping experience, returning to tent camping may be a tougher sell—the comfort and style of an Airstream can be hard to beat.
