We recently spent a few hours with Andrew Wagner, the new editor-in-chief of ReadyMade magazine, who previously worked at Dwell and American Craft. He has been in his role for several months, and the magazine’s new direction is already showing—both the print edition and the website look fresh and well considered.

Shortly after overseeing a print redesign that introduced a refreshed ReadyMade logo and updated cover design, Andrew and his team relaunched ReadyMade.com with a range of new features and content. The Projects section, especially, stands out as a practical and inspiring resource.

Andrew invited us to his Tribeca loft, which he shares with his wife. They’ve created a distinctive and carefully considered interior. When describing the layout and concept, the idea of Russian nesting dolls came to mind: smaller, functional volumes nested within a larger, open shell.

The apartment occupies the fifth floor of a former industrial warehouse, and the straight staircase up to the unit makes a striking arrival—unlike the cramped, winding stairs common in many New York buildings, this route leads directly toward natural light and the loft’s airy interior.

On entering the loft you immediately notice the tall ceilings and a central “cube” structure that organizes the space. This cube performs multiple roles: it contains a closet, a home office, and the bedroom, while its external surfaces help define two living areas and the kitchen. The result is an efficient, multifunctional plan that feels deliberate rather than cramped.

Large windows flood the loft with daylight, and the décor reflects Andrew’s personal taste—thoughtful furnishings, well-chosen finishes, and an overall sense of lived-in creativity. The apartment feels like an authentic expression of his design sensibility.

We appreciate Andrew sharing a private look at his New York home and expect to feature him in our interview series in the near future.
