Husqvarna Unveils New All-Wheel-Drive Lawn Mower Lineup

Last year Husqvarna introduced its first all-wheel-drive (AWD) walk-behind mower, the HU800AWD. AWD mowers deliver improved traction on slopes and uneven terrain, reducing effort and fatigue when tackling large yards. Because the additional driven axle adds only a small amount of weight, these machines remain comparable in heft to traditional rear-wheel-drive models while offering superior control and turning performance.

The strong market response to the HU800AWD has driven demand for more AWD options across different price points. In response, Husqvarna is expanding its AWD lineup with three new walk-behind mowers designed to bring AWD benefits—traction, stability and easier handling—to a broader range of users.

The new Husqvarna AWD models are:

Husqvarna-hu675awd

• HU675AWD — Powered by a Kohler 675 engine, this model features a heavy-duty steel 2-in-1 cutting deck, an over-mold bail control system, an auto-choke for easier starting, and the ability to mulch or rear-bag clippings. Its manufacturer’s suggested retail price (MSRP) is $299.95.

• HU725AWD — This model is powered by a variable-speed Briggs & Stratton 725ex engine with ReadyStart auto-choke. It includes a heavy-duty steel 3-in-1 cutting system that allows bagging, mulching, or side discharge. The MSRP for this model is $399.95.

• HU725AWD/BBC — Based on the HU725AWD, this version adds SingleStart™ with a blade brake clutch (BBC). The blade can be stopped to remove debris or empty the bag without shutting down the engine; a simple lever re-engages the blade so you can resume mowing without restarting. Its MSRP is $449.95.

These new AWD walk mowers will be available beginning spring 2014, joining the original HU800AWD (MSRP $499.95). Each model is engineered to deliver traction and balanced power to all four wheels for improved performance on hilly or uneven lawns and in challenging mowing conditions.

Common features across the AWD lineup include a dedicated dual-drive system and transmission, premium wheels with aggressive tread patterns for enhanced traction and maneuverability, a robust quick-pin four-point height adjustment for level cutting, and a water hose connector for easy deck cleaning. These design elements focus on durability, user convenience, and consistent cutting performance.

“Based on the positive feedback we received after the launch of the original AWD mower, we wanted to make the innovative technology widely available at different price points,” said Nick Schomer, Walk-Behind Product Manager at Husqvarna. “With three new pricing options and a variety of features, a wider range of users will be able to enjoy the benefits of All-Wheel Drive mowing technology with the launch of the new line.”

Safety reminder: operate safely—mow across slopes rather than up or down, and avoid mowing on wet grass or excessively steep terrain.
