As spring approaches and homeowners anticipate lawn-mowing season, Husqvarna has introduced the new Z200 series of residential zero-turn riding mowers. Husqvarna, one of the world’s leading manufacturers of outdoor power equipment, designed the Z200 lineup to deliver improved ergonomics, enhanced functionality, and a more refined mowing experience for DIY homeowners and lawn care enthusiasts.
The Z200 family includes the Z242F, Z248F, Z246, Z246i, Z254, and Z254i models. Each model builds on Husqvarna’s Residential Zero Turn platform by combining practical features, improved serviceability and a focus on operator comfort. These updates are intended to make mowing faster, more intuitive, and less tiring while maintaining strong cutting performance and durability.
One notable addition on select Z200 models is SmartSwitch™ technology, a modern operator interface that simplifies start-up with one-touch ignition, provides useful real-time feedback during operation, and offers keyless security for convenience and peace of mind.

The Z200 series draws on lessons from Husqvarna’s successful Residential Zero Turn platform and introduces a variety of options tailored to different yard sizes and user preferences. Key features and design elements include the following:
Z200 Features
Open-Design Chassis – The removable foot plate minimizes debris buildup and makes service access easier, simplifying cleaning and maintenance tasks.
SmartSwitch™ Technology (select models) – This intuitive operator interface offers one-touch starting, instant status feedback, and keyless security to streamline operation and reduce hassle.
New 42″ Fabricated Deck – A 42-inch fabricated deck option uses 10-gauge steel and two blades to combine the cut quality of a stamped deck with the structural strength and durability of a fabricated design.
Variety of Deck Sizes – Multiple deck configurations are available to suit different lawns and preferences: reinforced stamped decks in 46″ and 54″, and fabricated decks in 42″ and 48″. These choices help match cutting width and durability to the needs of each property.
Refined Aesthetics and Controls – The Z200 series features updated consoles, a clearer control panel, a rear bumper, engine guard and redesigned side panels for a more polished, user-friendly appearance.
Spring-Assisted Deck Lift – Located in the left console, the spring-assisted lift reduces effort when changing deck height and improves accessibility for the operator.
Automatic Mechanical Brake System (patent pending) – A single-level movement applies both wheel brakes simultaneously for quicker, simpler stopping.
Powerful LED Headlight – Strategically placed LED lighting improves visibility for early morning or late-day mowing, enhancing safety and convenience in low-light conditions.
Husqvarna designed the Z200 series to strike a balance between performance, durability and user comfort. By expanding deck options and integrating practical features like a removable foot plate and spring-assisted lift, these mowers aim to reduce maintenance time and make everyday mowing tasks more efficient.
The Z200 zero-turn mowers were scheduled to be available starting March 2015, with manufacturer’s suggested retail prices ranging approximately from $2,699 to $3,499 depending on the model and options. All Z200 models are sold through local Husqvarna dealers, and the Z246 model has also been offered through select large retailers.
