We love exploring Lake Tahoe and make annual trips to Fallen Leaf Lake, but our drive felt more elegant than ever when we took the all-new Infiniti QX60 for a spin.

Our trip began at Sacramento Airport, where we picked up the QX60. I had spent a few hours with the vehicle several months earlier and was already impressed with Infiniti’s updates to its flagship crossover. That first impression held true—this QX60 was road-trip ready and every bit as luxurious as I remembered.

Spacious Interior
We packed our family of four and set off on the two-hour drive to Edgewood Tahoe. The QX60 easily accommodated all our luggage behind the third row, and our boys appreciated having that extra space to call their own.

The second-row captain’s chairs are excellent for both children and adults, offering comfort and space. A roomy center console adds convenience and can be removed when easier access to the third row is needed.
Up front, the seats are sublime. After a cramped flight, the available massage feature made the start of our drive noticeably more pleasant.

While the 12-inch touchscreen and panoramic sunroof are standout tech and design features, the attention to detail in the quilted leather upholstery really caught our eye. It looks great and feels even better.
Driving Experience
Though the QX60 is a large crossover, it retains SUV capability—highlighted by a standard two-inch tow hitch—making it ready for adventure and capable of towing small to medium travel trailers or recreational equipment.

Climbing the mountain toward South Lake Tahoe was effortless. The new nine-speed transmission shifts smoothly, never feeling like it was searching for the right gear. It provides solid low-end torque, which made passing slower vehicles in the mountains both confident and quick.

Overall, the drive quality was superb—more refined than many crossovers that lack the power and handling the QX60 delivers. We recently enjoyed a week in the QX50, which is a fun, attention-grabbing vehicle, but for our family of four the QX60 fulfills every practical and comfort-related need.
Edgewood Tahoe is Spectacular
A shout-out to Edgewood Tahoe. There aren’t enough superlatives to describe our short stay at this lakeside luxury resort. The QX60 looked perfectly at home at a property consistently recognized for excellence.

Luxury hotels can sometimes feel formal, but Edgewood strikes a welcoming, family-friendly tone. Evening s’mores and movies on the lawn made our stay feel relaxed and fun for kids and adults alike.
While South Lake Tahoe isn’t normally our scene, Edgewood Tahoe stands out as a destination you could happily stay at for an entire trip, unless you’re planning to explore more of the region’s natural beauty.

Special thanks to Infiniti for making the trip possible. It’s clear they invested time and resources into the new QX60. In our view, it’s a stylish seven-passenger crossover that delivers many luxury features at a more accessible price point than larger luxury SUVs.
