One of our favorite Swedish retailers, IKEA, has recently launched a new program called IKEA Family — a free membership loyalty plan that offers a variety of benefits for cardholders.
During a recent end-of-summer visit to the big blue-and-yellow store, we came across a kiosk in the children’s area promoting quick sign-up. After entering just a few details, a bright orange membership card with a mini key-fob was printed for us in about thirty seconds, and a confirmation ping arrived on our phones.
We had received an email about IKEA Family a few weeks earlier but hadn’t had time to explore it. On the hour-long drive home, juggling purchases and children in the back seat, we read more about the program and its perks.
IKEA Family gives members access to exclusive in-store offers. Benefits include discounts on selected furniture and products, complimentary coffee or tea during visits, and extended playtime in SMÅLAND for families with young children. To redeem offers, members simply show or scan their IKEA Family card at checkout. Each in-store scan also automatically enters the member into a monthly drawing for a $100 IKEA gift card.
The program is free for anyone 18 or older. If you already have a profile on IKEA’s website, that information will be imported into your Family profile, and you can add additional family-oriented details if you wish. Members may also opt to receive a printed yearly catalog. Monthly deals and special offers are available through the IKEA Family portal, the in-store kiosks, or the monthly notification emails sent to the address provided at signup.
Overall, IKEA Family offers practical value for regular shoppers and families, combining immediate perks with potential long-term benefits. If you want to join, you can sign up during a visit to your local IKEA store or through the IKEA Family portal.
