A few months ago we reported on a new contest sponsored by IKEA called Rescue Remodel. The program invited the public to nominate local fire stations to receive a kitchen makeover. The winning firehouse receives a complete kitchen remodel valued at $25,000 from IKEA.
Nominations have now closed and the finalists have been selected. Community members can visit RescueRemodel.com to view the finalists and cast their votes. Voting is limited to one ballot per person each day, and the voting period concludes on February 28, 2012. If you want to support a local crew, be sure to vote daily before the deadline.
Well-equipped kitchens at fire stations make a real difference: they help firefighters maintain good nutrition, support recovery after long shifts, and foster the camaraderie that keeps teams strong. A modern, functional kitchen from IKEA could provide better storage, safer appliances, and more efficient workspace for meal preparation—small improvements that add up to healthier, happier crews.
If you care about your local volunteers and career firefighters, take a minute to review the finalists and register your daily vote. The Rescue Remodel contest gives communities a chance to show appreciation while helping a deserving firehouse gain practical upgrades that will be used every day.
