Why Original Plasti Dip Is Ideal for DIY Projects

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Plasti Dip. All opinions are my own.

I had always associated Original Plasti Dip with customizing vehicle wheels and bumpers, but I hadn’t considered using it for household projects—until Plasti Dip reached out and suggested trying it for home and kids’ projects. We were eager to experiment.

Our son has been asking to paint his scooters. Years of use have left them scuffed, scratched and in spots a little rusty from being left outdoors and ridden by him and his friends.

Painting felt a bit too permanent, so Original Plasti Dip was an attractive alternative. It comes in many vibrant colors, and if the boys decide they want a fresh look later, the coating peels off so they can reapply another color.

Our son also keeps a small set of tools in his drawer, but they frequently end up mixed into my toolbox or misplaced among toys. He came up with the idea to coat his tools with Plasti Dip so they would stand out in the dark garage drawers and be more fun—and easier—to find.

Plasti Dip on Scooters

Every scooter in our house gets used relentlessly. From the skate ramp to neighborhood curbs, our micro minis and Razor models have endured plenty of wear and tear over the years.

As he’s getting older, our son wants to personalize his gear. Plasti Dip felt ideal because it’s not permanent, comes in fun shades, and lets him experiment without commitment.

He chose a royal blue for his black scooter and a hot pink for his silver one. The scooters are now the most colorful on the block and easy to spot at the skate park.

Plasti Dip on Tools

After the scooters, he wanted to try Plasti Dip on some tools. We tested both standard Plasti Dip and Glow Plasti Dip on items he uses often.

Pink Plasti Dip brightened up a pair of rusty Channellocks, while white and yellow coatings livened up screwdrivers. Beyond color, the Plasti Dip finish added a comfortable, non-slip grip to the handles.

His favorite was a wrench coated with glow-in-the-dark Plasti Dip. It dries to a cloudy, translucent finish that charges with light and glows an eerie green when the lights go out.

Glow Plasti Dip is tricky to capture in photos, but it opens up playful possibilities for toys and seasonal decorations—especially around Halloween.

I’m tempted to coat a Halloween mask with Glow Plasti Dip and hide it for a harmless scare, though I’ll wait until the kids are older before pulling that prank.

Next time you’re planning a home project, consider Original Plasti Dip. It provides vibrant, removable color, and applying multiple coats makes it even easier to peel off later if you want a change.
