Slide Heavy Appliances Easily Using Windex for Smooth Moving

We recently purchased a Whirlpool Duet washer and dryer from Lowe’s and had them delivered and stacked. Once stacked, the pair became significantly heavier and much harder to reposition. The delivery team shared a quick, practical tip: spray a small amount of Windex—or any similar glass cleaner—on the floor just around the appliance feet. When we nudged the stacked units onto the Windex-treated area, they slid easily and smoothly, making final adjustments effortless.

Using a window cleaner works better than plain water because it provides more slip and evaporates more quickly, reducing the chance of prolonged moisture on the floor. While this method doesn’t completely eliminate the risk of scratching, it minimizes friction and makes damage far less likely than dragging the appliances over a dry surface.

With this simple trick, we can now fine-tune the washer and dryer placement without extra help. For future moves of heavy equipment, we’ll bring both a hand truck and a bottle of window cleaner. This approach saved time, reduced strain, and made the installation much smoother.
